The charge resolution ofCR39
The charge resolution of the INTERCAST CR39 was determined using samples
exposed to sulphur ions of 200 GeV/nucleon [1]. The results are shown in
the 'Charge Resolution' figure. For ions with charge in the range
6 < Z < 16 the charge resolution is 0.05e (e=unit electric charge) for Z=7
and 0.07e for Z=13. The slight worsening of the charge resolution with the
increasing Z is due to the non linear increase of the etch-pit areas
with increasing charge.
